Our life time journey starts with flying to Bale Goba on your arrival day to visit the Bale Mountains National Park, a journey that is both scenic and exciting. Located in the Oromia Region of southeast Ethiopia, the Bale Mountain National Park is one of those landscapes that keeps you guessing. From volcanic peaks, to glacial lakes to swamps, it’s not a place that runs out of things to show you. The park is rich in birds and endemic animals like the Nyala. It also has all the levels of vegetation from grasslands to thick forests. More than 60 mammal species and 260 birds have been found at the Bale Mountains National Park. After staying two nights there you will continue to Gondar through a connecting flight via Addis, here you will be visiting the famous Royal Enclosures. Our discovery of this fascinating historic route also continues to the lovely landscape of Simein Mountains, where you’ll enjoy walking with the troops of Gelada Baboon – Endemic for Ethiopia, enjoy your two night stay with the beautiful scenery of the mountains then you will be heading back to Gondar early morning and fly to Lalibela to touch the splendid Rock churches of Lalibela, considered as one of the eight wonders of the world and you will have enough time to learn more about these rock churches with your guided tour.

Day 1: Arrival and Flight to Bale Goba
Upon arrival at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, you'll be warmly welcomed by Absolute Ethiopia Tours staff. After clearing immigration and customs, you'll be escorted to the domestic terminal for your flight to Bale Goba Upon arrival in Goba, you'll head to Dinsho, the headquarters of Bale Mountain National Park, inhabited by the Oromo people. Here, you'll have the opportunity to: - Interact with the local mountain people and learn about their culture - Take in the breathtaking landscapes - Embark on a short hike through the woodland area of the national park - Spot endemic wildlife, including the Mountain Nyala, Menelik Bushbuck, Semien Fox, Bohor Reedbuck, and various bird species After an exciting day, you'll transfer to the lodge for a relaxing overnight stay. Day 2: Unveiling the Secrets of Bale Mountain National Park
Embark on an unforgettable adventure to the Sanetti Plateau, a breathtaking Afro-Alpine landscape at 4000m above sea level. Discover unique flora, including Giant Lobelia and Red-Hot Poker, and spot wildlife such as the elusive Simien Wolf and rare bird species. Ascend to the summit of Tullu Dimtu, Ethiopia's second-highest mountain, for panoramic views. Afterward, indulge in birdwatching in the Harenna forest, teeming with life, including olive baboons, Guereza monkeys, and more. Retire to the Bale Mountains Lodge for a warm meal and comfortable accommodations, with memories of the day's adventure lingering on.
Day 03: Fly to Gondar and Explore the Medieval City

Day 04: Explore Simien Mountain National Park Embark on a scenic drive to Simien Mountain National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, via Gondar (210kms). The park's dramatic topography, shaped by volcanic activity, is home to exceptional botanical phenomena and a diverse range of wildlife. Visit Sankaber, the first campsite in the Simien Mountains, and marvel at one of Ethiopia's most spectacular mountain sceneries. Keep an eye out for: - Ghelada Baboons and observe their foraging habits - Walia Ibex, Red Fox, and Chilada/Bleeding Heart Baboons Take a short walk to a picturesque waterfall, navigating the uneven terrain. Day 05: Exploring Simien Mountain National Park
Begin the day with a scenic drive to Jinbar Falls and Hyena Meda, where you'll take in the breathtaking morning views of the Simien Mountains. From Hyena Meda, embark on a hike to Immet Gogo (3,926m), and revel in the stunning panorama from the summit. Next, proceed to Chennek (3,620m), a haven for endemic Walia Ibex, Klipspringers, and Bushbucks. This spectacular spot is surrounded by giant Lobelias and Afro-Alpine scrub. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic spot, taking in the majestic views. Please note that spotting Walia Ibex is not guaranteed, as they inhabit areas at least 60km from the lodge, and sightings are often dictated by road conditions. In the afternoon, visit the Argin village, located in the heart of the park. Here, you'll have the opportunity to: - Practice baking injera with the locals - Learn about traditional beer-making - Participate in a traditional coffee ceremony - Experience local hair styling Revenues from these activities directly support the local community. Day 06: Fly to Lalibela and Explore the Rock-Hewn Churches
Fly from Gondar to Lalibela and explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its 11 medieval rock-hewn churches. Visit the north-west cluster, including: - Bet Medhane Alem, the largest monolithic church - Bet Maryam - Bet Meskel - Bet Giyorgis (Church of St George) Experience a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony in the evening. Day 07: Lalibela
Spend the day exploring Lalibela's surroundings. Visit the cave church of Yimrehane Kirstos, located 40kms from the city. This ancient church was built by King Yimrehane Kirstos before the reign of King Lalibela. Marvel at the church's unique Axumite-style architecture, featuring alternating levels of wood and stone, similar to the church at Debre Damo. If your visit coincides with the annual celebration of King and Saint Yimrehane Kirstos, attend this vibrant festival, which draws tens of thousands of pilgrims from across Ethiopia. Witness the devotion and joy of the congregation, wrapped in white shawls, singing and chanting alongside priests, accompanied by the rhythmic beat of drums and the piercing chorus of ululations. Day 08: Departure from Lalibela
Bring your Ethiopian adventure to a close with a morning transfer to Lalibela Airport for your return flight to Addis Ababa (12:00 - 13:15). Upon arrival in Addis Ababa: - Proceed to your international departure flight - Alternatively, if time permits, take a guided city tour - Enjoy a farewell dinner at a traditional Ethiopian restaurant, featuring local cuisine and cultural performances, including traditional dances. Bid farewell to Ethiopia, carrying memories of an unforgettable journey.
